Oh my God - This is a strong emotional expression. With the phrase Oh, God, they express strong emotions: surprise, fear, joy. Often, when listening to English-language podcasts, British stand-up comedy or films in the language, I notice how many expressions they find to replace the banal Oh My when they want to express surprise, fear or disappointment. We are talking about interesting and varied everyday English, both in the UK and in the USA, Australia, etc. I always suggest choosing several options that you can remember and use in your speech.
They, in fact, are very good and stick for a long time. For example, I just can't get rid of the Goodness gracious, which I have fallen in love with since my university days.
